That's a comfy baby!

Peter continues to do well and is growing like a weed. He is filling out more every day. The nurse practitioner has increased his total fluid intake as he has grown so much. We are happy that he is growing, but this means he will have the broviac iv for a few more days (they can only increase his breastmilk intake by 1 ml every 12 hours). Providing everything continues to go smoothly in this area, he will have the broviac removed either this weekend or early next week (not sure if the surgeon has to remove the line or not - that will determine how long it takes to get it removed). He was moved back up to 4 liters of flow on his cannula. He is still only receiving room air, but continues to need some support. His breathing is actually too fast at times which is the reason for the increase in flow. It helps him to slow down. The good news is that he is simply breathing fast, not in a distressed manner.

In the past few days, we have discovered that Peter has quite the flair for the dramatic. Despite his breathing issues, Peter has no problem effectively announcing his displeasure with extremely loud squeals and squawks . . . in addition, he has definitely developed his "cry" . . . I am confident that Peter will have no problem letting us know when something is "off" with him!

Yesterday was Brad & my 14th anniversary . . . we had no idea we would be parents for the first time 14 years later. But, we are so blessed and completely overwhelmed with love we didn't know existed now that Peter is in our life. We were always a little family . . . now we're just a little bigger (and I literally mean "a little").

A quick note . . . Peter would like for everyone to know that he didn't have a choice in using the pink pillow in the picture . . . it was all that was available :)
