July 29, 2012

Today would have been a special day had things gone as planned last year . . . one year ago today was Peter's original due date . . . clearly, there were other plans afoot . . . today, it doesn't matter when he arrived . . . we're just thankful that he is here!  We had a visit from Grandma & Auntie B last week, followed by a trip to Millennium Park today . . . fun times were had by all . . .

Not so sure about the sand yet . . .

OK, I suppose I can touch it . . .

Yes, I should bury my foot like Daddy did . . . I want to do everything he does!

Two peas in a very strange pod

I love the sand!  I loved the water even more, but those pictures are on Grandma's camera . . . maybe Mommy will post them later

I love my Auntie B  . . .  or Birdie . . . I don't actually know what her name is . . . must think of proper nickname!

Today was our first visit to the Meijer Sculpture Gardens . . .

Mommy wanted to include this photo first . . . please take note of the title on the sculpture . . . it made her laugh . . . I don't know why . . .
These little friends greeted us at the entrance to the "arid" section of the gardens . . .
Followed by these "not friends" in the "carnivorous section . . .
This one is called "Old Man's Beard"  . . . it was in the same section as the banana tree (which we found), the cocoa tree (which we found) and the coffee tree (which continues to elude Daddy)
I really liked the palm leaves that hung down low . . . they were great fun to pull on . . . however, I don't think the volunteer from the gardens thought it was a good idea!
I found this mouse to be particularly auspicious and asked Mommy to include him in this blog post . . . I shall call him Melville . . .
Did I forget to mention there is a section designed especially for kiddos, like me?  I LOVE splashing in the water . . .
  . . . and playing with sailboats . . .
. . . but most especially, splashing in water!!!!
 Must . . . breach . . . surface . . . . of . . . water . . .
Phew!  Made contact, now we're good!
 I liked this little hut . . .
 SURPRISE!  I'm inside . . .
So you're thinking . . . "that looks like a pretty big horse"
No, silly, that's not it up close . . .
 That either . . .
Yessireebob!  That is a horse as tall as a two story building . . . on that note I think we'll close for the day . . . how can I top an enormous horse and me in the same picture . . . too much awesomeness!

July 21, 2012

Today was my first visit to a county fair . . . it wasn't the Iroquois County Fair, but I really liked it and can't wait to go to the fair with Grandma & Grandpa next year.  Mommy & Daddy said this is just a taste as we are going to the Illinois State Fair in 3 weeks . . . there was mention of a cow made of butter . . . I must investigate!

These goats are brave dudes . . . they just walk right up . . .
I named this guy Duck (its my favorite name) . . . we had a good talk!
This one is Herb . . . he needed to have his horns ground down . . . I told him he was a handsome fellow either way
 Daddy, I don't know what you are thinking . . .that is a chicken . . . we eat them . . .
Oh, ok . . . I guess just one little rub will be ok . . . I'm not getting attached though!
Daddy wanted you all to know that he held a chicken for the first time . . . he is VERY brave . . . they have sharp little beaks!
We saw some really cool dog swimming races . . . my favorite was Howard, the whippet . . . he just won his bracket before this picture . . .
In the bleachers, awaiting the tractor pull . . . pretty sure Daddy thought it was more interesting than I did
Daddy told me all about the vehicles that the military uses . . .
He drove one of these when he was in the Army . . .
This was my favorite . . . gotta get me one of those!
Mommy & Daddy thought it would be fun to take a picture of me sitting in this HUGE tire . . .
I thought it would be more fun to explore the inside of the wheel . . .
 I'm in . . . I can't tell you what I saw though . . . it is a secret!
I also really enjoyed climbing the tire . . . Mommy was put out with me . . . Daddy had to stand on his tip toes to reach me!
Here's another one of me and Duck . . . I had to go back and tell him about the tire . . . goats are really good about keeping secrets . . . I feel like I can trust him!
 I'm very tall . . .
According to Mommy & Daddy, it wouldn't be a visit to the fair without a lemon shake-up . . .
. . . . and a corn dog (it was delicious, Grandma!)

We had a fun morning at the Children's Museum today!

Oh look!  There are two of me . . . I am Magnificent!!
Music instruments?  I wonder if anyone else knows "Old Brass Wagon"?
 Oh well . . . guess I am on my own this time . . . I'll just have to make it work . . .
 Hmmm . . what's in here?

Apparently nothing important . . . must stay on the move!
Back and Forth . . . Back and Forth
You will note that my hands aren't touching anything!
 There were balls everywhere!
 Must Catch Bisa!
 I found the books!
Mommy made me come home to take a nap . . . NOT VERY HAPPY!
