As it turns out, Peter is in fact going to be a sumo wrestler! Peter had a large weight gain last night . . . he is up to 3 lbs, 9 oz!!!! This is a super milestone as Peter has officially gained 1 pound since birth. He is also up to 16 3/4" in length . . . we're so proud of our little growing baby boy!
I was able to kangaroo with Peter for 2 1/2 hours yesterday (the longest session yet). He is still having trouble with rapid breathing, but didn't have any episodes during our kangaroo time or last night while Brad was singing to him. . . he loves his daddy and mommy (and we love him)!
Peter had his first eye exam today. There is a concern for preemies of developing Retinopathy of Prematurity due to the oxygen they receive. Peter hasn't received much oxygen so this wasn't a huge concern. However, we were very happy to hear the pediatric opthamologists report that Peter's eyes, while immature (which was expected) are perfectly normal for his gestational age. I was there for the eye exam and it was truly awful and Peter really didn't like the whole procedure, but he was a trooper and allowed the doctor to do his job.
Grammy has been working really hard on Peter's nursery . . . we are so thankful for her willingness to do this so we can spend our time with Peter. We'll share the before and after pictures once the room is done. Today the floor is being installed (thanks Larry). . . we can't wait to see the room when we return home tonight . . . should be a pretty dramatic transformation!
