April 2011

The muffin has officially been baking for 27 weeks. We are happy to report that the baby is growing healthy and strong. Mama on the other hand continues to have some trouble. I was able to return to work for three weeks, but have now officially been put on bedrest until the oven timer dings. I am blessed in that the reason for my house arrest is high blood pressure. This means that I have to stay low key throughout the day. However, I am able to leave the house on occasion and can get up for a short time as often as necessary. There are many moms to be who are stuck laying in bed due to early labor issues. I am thankful that this little one is perfectly content to stay in the safe confines of his/her temporary home.

I have started visiting the doctor weekly and will begin weekly ultrasounds and non-stress tests next week. These weekly appointments will last throught the remainder of the pregnancy. It is probably a good thing that I am not working right now . . . too many appointments to keep track of!

My doctor said this morning . . . "let's just get you to 35 weeks . . . everything else is icing on the cake" . . .We are hoping for a few more than 35 weeks, but we are certain that the baby will be delivered earlier than the July29th due date.

Here is a picture from 26 weeks . . .

March 2011

March has been an interesting month in our household. I spent the first 2 1/2 weeks at home, on bedrest. It seems that the baby growing has caused my blood pressure to elevate beyond normal levels. It took a couple of weeks for the doctor to find the right medication that would work for me and be safe for the baby. We seem to have things under control now and I am back to work. However, when I am at home I do have to stay pretty low key (guess that means I won't have to help when it is time to clean out the basement)

The baby is moving around very regularly these days and seems to enjoy exploring his/her temporary home. Favorites that seem to make him/her extra excited are:

Vanilla Creme Donuts from Tim Horton's

"Boom Boom Pow" by the Black Eyed Peas

Brad's voice

Me Playing the Piano

It brings me so much joy to feel the little monster wiggling around in there. Of course if there is too long of a gap between kicks and somersaults I get overly worried . . . I guess I should just get used to that!

Brad had the pleasure of his first interaction with our little Muffin on March 29th. He was resting his head on my lap when a little foot reached out and kicked him right in the face. Grammy isn't sure if the baby was saying "hello" or reminding Brad that this is baby territory now.

And Baby Makes Three

I seriously thought I would never have the need to say those words . . . 4 years of dating, 15 years of marriage, 2 years of fertility treatments, 5 years of coming to terms with not having children . . .

and, baby makes three . . .
I have started a blog on this site numerous times, but I never really had much to say and stopped posting rather quickly . . . this time, I'm hoping I can stick with it . . .
A brief recap . . .
12.06.2011, 12:00pm - two lines . . . what?!?!?
12.06.2011, 4:45pm - Kim, my favorite nurse . . . "you're REALLY pregnant!!"
12.07.2011, 10:00am - that's just a blob
02.21.2011, 10:30am - that's not just a blob and I swear I was getting thinner

03.19.2011 - clearly, we can no longer deny the situation

So, that about brings us up to date . . . our little "muffin" is due on July 29, 2011.
